Maritime Enforcement Services Story

Maritime Enforcement Services Inc. (MES) provides professional bylaw enforcement and community safety services to local governments throughout New Brunswick and the Maritimes. Our officers support towns, villages, regional commissions, and other public-sector clients with contract-based services focused on compliance, visibility, and public trust.

We are not a private security agency. We serve governments only, and every enforcement solution we deliver is built around the goals, bylaws, and values of the municipalities we support.

Our team enforces municipal bylaws, responds to complaints, patrols public spaces, and helps residents understand and follow local regulations. Whether you need seasonal enforcement for a tourism region or long-term coverage for your community, we provide clear, professional service designed for results.

Our Clients

Our Approach

Our goal is to help municipalities gain compliance through education, presence, and respectful enforcement. We believe that most bylaw issues can be resolved through conversation, not confrontation. That’s why our officers are trained in communication, public engagement, and community-first enforcement methods. Contracts include plans, officer coverage, reporting, and communication.

Our Officers

All officers at Maritime Enforcement Services are properly trained, insured, and equipped to carry out the tasks expected of a municipal law enforcement officer. Each is selected not only for their enforcement capabilities, but also for their professionalism and ability to represent the community in a visible and public-facing role. Every appointed bylaw enforcement officer at MES is also a member of the Atlantic Bylaw Officer Association.

Why Municipalities Choose Us

Maritime Enforcement Services is built around the unique needs of local governments. Municipalities choose us because we:

  • Work in partnership with councils, CAOs, and staff

  • Serve only public-sector clients—never private security contracts

We focus on fairness, visibility, and long-term partnerships. Our goal is not just to enforce rules, but to support community confidence and municipal leadership.

Maritime Enforcement ServicesFrequently Asked Questions

What does Maritime Enforcement Services do?

We provide bylaw enforcement and community safety services to local governments across New Brunswick and the Maritimes. Our officers handle complaints, enforce municipal bylaws, and help residents comply with local regulations through education-first engagement.

Are your officers police or private security?

No. We are not a police agency or a private security firm. Our officers are trained, uniformed municipal law enforcement personnel who work under contract with government clients only. They are appointed under the authority of the municipalities they serve.

How are your officers trained?

All officers complete formal Municipal Law Enforcement training and are certified in safety and compliance procedures. This includes tactical handcuffing, first aid, crisis intervention, vehicle operations, and more. Some officers also hold advanced certifications in policing, firefighting, or emergency medical response.

What types of communities do you work with?

We serve small towns, rural municipalities, regional commissions, and bilingual communities that need contract-based enforcement. Whether you need year-round patrols or seasonal summer coverage, we tailor services to meet local needs.

Can MES help with dangerous or unsightly properties?

Yes. We offer enforcement and follow-up services for properties that violate dangerous or unsightly premises bylaws. This includes site visits, notice delivery, re-inspections, and formal documentation to support municipal compliance action.

Do your officers wear body cameras?

Yes. Our officers are equipped with body-worn cameras when performing enforcement duties. This promotes transparency, builds public trust, and supports accurate reporting.

Is Maritime Enforcement Services insured?

Yes. We carry full insurance coverage for our operations, including general liability, professional liability, and worker safety. We also comply with all municipal and provincial requirements for service providers.

How do municipalities start working with MES?

We begin with a consultation to understand your needs, complaint history, and bylaw enforcement goals. From there, we propose a customized plan, assign trained officers, and deliver reports based on the level of service you choose.

Where does MES operate?

Our services are available across New Brunswick and are expanding throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We prioritize local knowledge, regional presence, and familiarity with Maritime municipal bylaws.

Do you offer bilingual enforcement?

Yes. We have bilingual officers and provide services to French-speaking communities throughout the Maritimes. We ensure respectful communication and documentation in both official languages as needed.
